Game Music Producing
In our very first lecture, we made a short piece of music for a gameplay clip from a game called Cocoon. In this clip, I tried using the simplest and most basic instruments to express scene transitions and some positive feedback.
During this lecture, I realized that music plays a massive role in games. I love playing games, but I had never really thought about how music shapes the atmosphere and plot before. The thing I connected with the most is that game music serves as a guide and a feedback loop; we get correction and guidance through the changes in music and sound effects. I’ve always treated sound as a form of art and a sensory experience, but I guess I somewhat ignored the practical use of sound.
