During the lecture we have discuss the blog posts writing and a small work in process presentation. The following is the viewpoints that I have shared.
First, my theme and concept is the “Healing Box.” I picked four common negative human emotions as the main theme, hoping to ease or heal them. In this project, I won’t make tracks for all four emotions; instead, I’ll just choose one to fully develop and produce. Right now, I’ve already made one demo, and I plan to add some vocals and do some mixing on it. As for my collaborator, she is a BA Fine Art Painting student at UAL Chelsea. We both agreed to choose “Chaos” as our main theme and creative direction.
During the process, the thing that surprised me the most was how similar our understandings of the theme were. We tried a few different ways to create. The most memorable part was when we watched a really old horror movie together and then started sketching and creating. Without even talking about it beforehand, we both thought of a horror story called The Human Chair and decided to use it as our theme.
For this project, my collaborator thinks it’s a really great opportunity and a cool experiment. Before this, both of us had more or less blurred the mediums of our work and tried exploring different directions. But through our conversations, we realized we shared a very similar experience. Even though we’ve both tried cross-medium creation before, it was usually just one medium supporting the other, rather than both having an equal share. So in this project, we want to give both of our mediums an equal weight.
