Composing and work process

Concept:The core concept of my creative sound work is to explore the spatial shifts and movements of the simple human voice within dialogue and communication. Structurally, the piece is minimalist, sustained entirely by stable chord progressions and a uniform modality, free from abrupt transitions. To me, the performance mirrors a dreamscape—it possesses neither a distinct beginning nor a definitive end; there is only a slow building toward a crescendo, followed by oblivion.

While my essay primarily investigates the viability of sound as a healing element and establishes a criteria to distinguish genuine healing music from superficial substitutes, this audio piece takes a more direct approach. It is an immediate expression of self-exploration within my own dreams, confronting the psychological question: what happens to us when we find ourselves truly immersed in a dreamscape from which we can neither escape nor depart?

First, I wrote a dreamy and ambiguous poem with the theme of dream and consciousness, and to give in. And I plan to arrange this poem with two voices that speak after each other to create a spatial call and response effect.

Left Pan:Dream

What can u see through

Connections

Life and Death

Void

Lets roar

Let‘s Dream

Let‘s dive in

Let’s expect

Let‘s see through

Let’s rebel

Right Pan:Illusions

Dream and Illusions

Between

Consciousness and

Void

Come into my arms

Let’s See

Don‘t be wise

Don’t be safe

Don‘t look at me

Don’t dream any

Don‘t be careful

Give in

Give in

And then I am mainly focused on arranging and composing based on the poem. I want to build a dreamy and dark ambience and a set of tunes. So I used E minor mode and improvised with the piano. To add a mysterious feeling to the piano, I adjusted the EQ and boosted some low frequencies to make it more mellow.

This is the final screenshot of the project. I also added many guitar sessions and tracks to make some variations in this track.
