The beginning of DADA movement can be manifested by Hugo Bell’s MANIFESTO in 1916 in a hotel. The manifesto is so nonsensical and casual that it made a really strong impact on the traditional arts in that period. Then one participants of the DADA organization ,Tristan Tzara, started to make criticism on many artists. This rebellious anti-art movement soon won many fans and supports among whole world.People began making different genres of avant-grade and ironic arts including painting, sculpture and sonic arts, so as to fight against the class and hierarchy and war.

The connections that DADA movement related to modernism can be counted down to three.First, this is a very diverse and inclusive movements that allows any kind of arts except traditional art.Apart from this, Hugo’s MANIFESTO held the strong attitude against war.Chasing for peace and finding a place to settle down is all people needs when fleeting and facing a demographic upheaval. It is the basic need from the masses. What’s more, the modernism can be showed from their objection towards traditional art.It is a struggle and attempts to break and fight against class and hierarchy.

I am interested in DADA movement because I saw the FOUNTAIN in Tate Modern from Duchamp and I was astonished by its non sense and ironicalness.Besides, I really like the way that people express their attitude in DADA movement, which includes many kind of arts.I hold the belief that a successful art movement should include many kind of art, instead of only painting or something.
